“With respect to preconstruction services, B&I provides construction and logistical planning, design-assist and design build services, detailed estimating, and fully coordinated BIM/VDC modeling to ensure efficiency and accuracy from concept through completion,” begins Brian F. Mumme, Chief Revenue Officer at B&I. “In terms of construction, we provide expert installation of HVAC systems, plumbing and piping systems, and complex electrical infrastructure, along with ongoing service, maintenance, and retrofit solutions to extend the life and performance of building systems.
“With respect to post-construction, B&I provides full service mechanical maintenance, in addition to its core MEP services,” Brian continues, elaborating further on the company’s scope of capabilities. “We offer specialized expertise in areas such as energy-efficient system design, building automation and controls, and sustainable construction practices. Our team is experienced in managing large-scale, technically demanding projects, where precision, safety, and schedule adherence are critical.”

“Florida International University and Baptist Health South Florida are partnering to build the HWCOM – Academic Health Sciences Clinical Partnership – Med Center & Garage. It is a 120,000-square-foot healthcare and parking garage project located on the Florida International University campus, with B&I performing the HVAC and plumbing scope. The project is expected to be completed in 2028 and will require an estimated 72,000-to-77,000 manhours,” Brian elaborates.
“What makes this project unique is the extensive BIM/VDC coordination required for both the medical center and precast parking garage systems, including coordination of underground utilities, penetrations, and phased construction activities while maintaining the project schedule. The project also includes specialized healthcare spaces and requires close coordination among multiple trades, design teams, and precast construction schedules.”
Investing in infrastructure
On an internal level, B&I is undergoing several developments to further enhance its operational efficiency whilst accommodating its continued growth. For instance, the company is currently expanding its headquarters to meet growing demands and continue delivering high-quality services to its customers. Above all else, this project reflects B&I’s strategic investments in its people and infrastructure, positioning it for further evolution and success.
“We are currently expanding headquarters at 2701 Prince Street in Fort Myers, Florida, increasing the facility to more than 150,000 square feet to support the company’s continued growth and evolving operational needs,” Brian shares. “The expansion will bring dedicated manufacturing space across four trade-specific facilities. Each component is engineered directly from our coordinated BIM models, tagged with QR codes for full traceability, and delivered to the jobsites ready to install. The expansion also includes dedicated office space, allowing the company to accommodate a growing workforce while enhancing collaboration across departments.”

“B&I’s total annual revenue is currently approaching $500 million,” Brian affirms, concluding our conversation. “We are planning to maintain consistent, profitable growth to over $600m in revenue by 2031. We anticipate that most of our growth will take place in the West Central and South East regions, while we continue to maintain a large market share in South West Florida.”
