For more than 45 years, family-owned Wildcat Striping Sealing & Paving (Wildcat) has helped businesses and property owners throughout metro Atlanta maintain attractive, durable, and safe asphalt surfaces. Since 1980, the company’s close-knit team has been committed to delivering reliable service, expert craftsmanship, and cost-effective solutions for every paving and maintenance need, operating across Alpharetta, Conyers, Douglasville, Lawrenceville, Marietta, Roswell, Sandy Springs, Snellville, and often across the Southeast.
From paving, sealcoating, striping, and road work to parking lot maintenance, parking deck cleaning, and HDC signs, the business works closely with every client to develop customized solutions, ensuring exceptional quality and complete customer satisfaction every time. Laura Dunn, Co-Owner, Vice President, and Marketing Director at Wildcat Striping, joins Construction Today to tell the story.
“This company was originally founded as a maintenance asphalt company by John Campbell back in 1980. He started out with sealing and striping before moving more into the commercial aspect of it, making the business one of the first in Atlanta to offer commercial sealing and striping,” she begins. “My husband, Tyler Dunn, then joined him in 1991 and they opened the thermoplastic division for Department of Transportation (DOT) striping. They worked with many developers and general contractors across Atlanta, striping their subdivisions, before then also opening their guardrail division.
“In 2009, John decided to retire, so my husband and I bought him out and I joined the business. Since then, we’ve gone deeper into paving, and since 2010, we have done all our paving in-house. We now offer the full scope of asphalt installation and maintenance, from sealing and striping to signage and guardrail, which makes it easier for general contractors to deal with us because we can take care of everything. In paving, we offer additional services for new construction from subgrade, and we also have a milling machine to offer milling and repaving of existing asphalt.
Providing personalized service
“We’re a family-owned business, so our children grew up here,” Laura continues. “Two of our daughters work in the sales and project management sides of the business, along with one of our sons-in-law, and our other son-in-law is the controller. They’ve been doing this job for 13-to-20 years and are very knowledgeable within the industry.”
Registered with the Georgia Department of Transportation, Wildcat offers a comprehensive range of services: parking lot striping, sealcoating, paving, asphalt repairs, thermoplastic striping, HDC and DOT signage, concrete repairs, parking deck cleaning, warehouse striping, speed bump installation, curb and sidewalk work, street print pavement texturing, and line removal. In terms of evolution, advances in technology have streamlined many aspects of the company’s estimating and planning process, but its commitment to building strong customer relationships and providing personalized service remains unchanged.
“Things are evolving within the industry,” Laura elaborates. “Back when we started the business, if we were going to quote a parking lot we had to physically go out there and measure the areas with a wheel; now, a lot of that is done online using iPave and Bluebeam. However, we do request that our people go out to see the properties and make contact with our customers. Customer relations are very important to my husband and I. We stand behind our product; customer satisfaction is how we’ve stayed in business for this long.”

“We have a very strict safety program. We always have a safety officer on staff, and every one of our foremen is OSHA-certified, as well as the majority of our employees. It makes a huge difference. We have weekly and monthly safety meetings, too. As for our fleet, we have many different vehicles – everything from semitrucks and trailers to dump trucks, crew trucks, and pickup trucks – so we have an in-house mechanic to undertake the essential maintenance on them and keep them running safely,” Laura affirms.
Prioritizing people
Aside from its wealth of technical expertise and exacting quality and safety standards, what sets Wildcat Striping apart is its passionate, skilled team. Above all else, Laura emphasizes that the company’s ‘Wildcat Family’ is its most important asset of all.
“It’s hard to find good employees who want to stay for a long time, but we’ve been very fortunate to find family within our family. We have many employees who have been with us for over 20 years – whose children are now working with us as well. We’re constantly training our employees, and new hires always go through an orientation program,” Laura reminisces. “Through our safety officer – aside from our regular safety meetings – we have seminars on things like driver safety and CPR. Those things are very important within this industry and some people overlook that, and, by the grace of God, we’ve never suffered anything too traumatic. Our employees are extremely important to us and we really try to take care of them.”

“We’ll continue to grow by introducing ourselves to newcomers in the Atlanta market, whilst continuing to perfect our work,” Laura says, concluding our conversation. “Our name has been out there for a long time. We have longstanding employees who are very knowledgeable and can see a project through from beginning to end. My husband and I are now semi-retired, so our desire is that we can leave this company to our people to continue the legacy.”
