Vinci Construction’s acquisition of Peters Bros Construction represents a focused expansion of its operations in North America. Already active in Vancouver, Alberta, and Saskatchewan, the company now positions itself to play a more integral role in British Columbia’s infrastructure development. This move supports Vinci’s broader plan to build regional capacity and strengthen its construction portfolio in high-demand areas.

Globally, Vinci employs more than 285,000 people across 120 countries. Its expertise spans large-scale transport projects, urban infrastructure, and sustainable construction.

Peters Bros Construction’s regional strengths

Established in 1981, Peters Bros Construction is headquartered in the Okanagan Valley and focuses on asphalt production and roadwork. Its operating zones include Dawson Creek, Williams Lake, Merritt, Kelowna, and Penticton. These regions require localized infrastructure knowledge, especially for roadways affected by seasonal conditions and mountainous terrain.

The company reports annual revenue of around CAD 90 million and employs approximately 140 people at peak periods. Its vertical integration, including in-house asphalt manufacturing, presents a logistical and cost advantage. Vinci now inherits this strategic capability and a long-standing network of municipal clients.

Infrastructure pressure builds as population climbs

British Columbia’s population is projected to rise by 50 percent by 2046. That growth will place significant pressure on road systems, particularly in the interior regions where terrain and climate complicate construction schedules. The acquisition signals Vinci’s readiness to meet this demand with greater speed and regional capacity.

The integration is expected to deliver operational gains across multiple provinces. Vinci will benefit from flexible resource allocation, centralized procurement, and expanded bidding eligibility for large-scale infrastructure projects. These synergies enhance Vinci’s ability to compete for long-term contracts, including public-private partnerships.

The Peters Bros acquisition also adds geographic redundancy, giving Vinci greater resilience in planning and executing projects in areas with weather-dependent construction cycles. It creates a networked presence that stretches from British Columbia to Saskatchewan, reflecting Vinci’s ambition to deliver comprehensive infrastructure coverage across Canada.
