US Navy Awards Jacobs $80M for Five-Year Environmental Services Contract

Jacobs has been awarded an $80 million contract from the US Navy’s Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Atlantic to provide environmental compliance services. The five-year indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract will cover military installations in the eastern United States, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

The project will focus on compliance with federal environmental regulations, reducing risks associated with hazardous materials, and improving sustainability initiatives at military bases. Jacobs’ selection aligns with its broader strategy of expanding its role in government infrastructure projects.

Strengthening environmental compliance for the US Navy

Under this contract, Jacobs will provide a range of environmental services, including petroleum storage tank compliance, ensuring storage systems meet environmental and safety regulations. The company will also develop emergency response plans for oil spills and conduct training to improve preparedness.

Air quality compliance will be a key focus, with Jacobs managing emissions in accordance with the Clean Air Act. The company will also oversee water quality and wastewater management to ensure compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act and Clean Water Act. Additionally, Jacobs will provide hazardous materials and waste management services, ensuring proper handling, disposal, and reduction of hazardous materials.

Jacobs will carry out its work in the eastern United States, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, regions where the US Navy operates critical bases and logistics hubs. In the eastern US, Jacobs will focus on national environmental regulations, particularly regarding air and water quality. In Europe, efforts will center on emissions control and hazardous waste management. In Africa and the Middle East, the emphasis will be on water resource sustainability and petroleum storage safety.

Partnership with the US Navy

This contract builds on Jacobs’ 40-year history with the US Navy and NAVFAC. Over the decades, Jacobs has assisted the Navy in navigating evolving environmental regulations, implementing sustainable initiatives, and enhancing infrastructure resilience.

Past projects have included infrastructure design, environmental remediation, and regulatory compliance consulting. Jacobs’ success in securing this latest contract reflects the Navy’s confidence in its ability to manage complex environmental programs effectively.

Jacobs’ latest contract win reinforces its leadership in environmental and engineering services for the federal government. The company has expanded its defense sector portfolio, recently securing a $249 million contract with the US Army Corps of Engineers for infrastructure resilience projects.

For Jacobs, this contract reaffirms its reputation as a trusted partner in federal sustainability initiatives. Its expertise in petroleum storage, oil spill response, hazardous materials management, and air and water quality compliance will help the Navy meet stringent environmental standards.
