How The Brothers That Just Do Gutters evolved from the family garage to a franchising force for good
While many contractors focus simply on getting the job done, others choose to redefine expectations. Enter: The Brothers That Just Do Gutters (Brothers Gutters). Founded in 1999, the company has built a unique service model rooted in reliability, accountability, and genuine care, firmly establishing itself as a leading force in the guttering industry over the past 27 years.
The company’s mantra – promising to ‘reinvent contractor service’ – sets a new standard within the sector, positioning its skilled workforce not as salespeople or owners, but as Solutionists©: professionals dedicated to solving problems and delivering peace of mind. Across all its services, from seamless gutter installations to the newly released ‘BroGuard line of Gutter guards systems’, the company’s philosophy remains consistent; putting the customer first, staying transparent, and continually raising the bar for what contractor service should be.

Today, Brothers Gutters continues to shine as a people-powered, solutions-driven organization. Equally as impressive as the business’ scope of expertise, however, is its backstory – a journey that’s nothing short of passion, resilience, and real hard grit. Joining Construction Today to tell the story is Danny Horboychuk, Brand President at Brothers Gutters, who shares insight into the company’s growth, evolution, and current developments.
“Brothers Gutters began back in 1999, initially under a different name. One of our founders, Ken Parsons, the older of the two brothers, was a schoolteacher who ended up working on a gutter truck over the summer vacation while he wasn’t teaching. He fell in love with the work – the people doing it and the way everything progressed forward – and, as he likes to say, when it was time to go back to teaching at the end of the summer, he threw his degree in the gutter and never looked back.
“From that, Ken went out and bought an old, beat-up truck and started working out of his mom’s garage,” Danny continues, detailing the business’ earliest days. “Our other founder, the younger brother Ryan Parsons, was a fine arts major who was part of the dot-com era bust and was looking for work. Ken offered him a job on the truck to help him out, but as Ryan talks about it, he was secretly trying to find any way possible to get off the truck because he was not a fan of the work. Instead, Ryan looked to see where he could use his degree background to help the business out, which is how they ended up as one of the first players in the gutter industry to have a website.
“As the business continued to grow, Ken and Ryan worked together to build on their strengths,” he continues. “At one point, they even got into modular homes, as well as Kitchen and bath remodels, until the crash in 2008. When that hit, they almost lost everything. With that, they pulled back and thought more deeply about their bread-and-butter, and it was always gutters.
“At the time, the business was called Waterfall Seamless Gutters. Ken and Ryan had done a local radio interview talking about the business and mentioned that they don’t do the modular or remodel work anymore, and the radio host said: ‘Oh, so you’re the brothers that just do gutters?’ And they said: ‘Absolutely’.
“From that point onwards, people started calling in and asking for ‘the brothers that just do gutters’, and Ken and Ryan figured that it was time for a rebrand. They renamed the business ‘The Brothers That Just Do Gutters’ and really started dialing into the brand, showing up to job sites in branded shirts and vehicles. Before too long, people started asking if they were a franchise. As the great visionaries they are, Ken and Ryan then wanted to figure out a way to make it happen. Fast forward to 2015, the brothers started up pilot locations – one in Monmouth, New Jersey, and one in Lynchburg, Virginia. A couple of years later, they then sold their first franchise location in Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania.”
Danny joined the company ten years ago with no prior experience, but much like Ken and Ryan, quickly became enamored with the business and the positive impact it created for local people and their communities. “I joined the company in 2016. I had no background in the gutter industry – I was a former touring musician who was starting a young family and wanted something a little more stable for home life,” Danny reveals. “Ken brought me in as a Solutionist and I learned a lot. I learned that the core of the company is more about people than it is about gutters and that was key as we continued to evolve.
“Around 2019-to-2020,, we partnered with an FSO called Franchise Fastlane, and that’s when the machine really took off,” he recounts. “The growth with that was incredible; we added 85 new owners in just six months. Then, around two years ago, the business was purchased by Riverside Private Equity Group. The brothers stayed on with the acquisition, and today, Ken is working with our franchise coaches and Ryan has been appointed the CEO of Evive Brands, which is the portfolio company that we’re a part of.”
Gutters for good
Central to Brothers Gutters’ core ethos is people engagement. From a business perspective, the company leads all conversations, not with a sales pitch, but with a focus on building understanding and trust with its customers. Through its dedication to being Solutionists©, Brothers Gutters’ is passionate about spending time with the homeowner on site and really demonstrating why the solution presented is the best option for them and showing how it solves their unique problems.

This people-first mindset, however, extends far beyond individual customer interactions. Aside from business operations, this approach shapes how Brothers Gutters shows up in the wider community, turning its commitment to service into meaningful, real-world impact through its ‘Gutters for Good’ program.
“’Gutters for Good’ is a fairly new program where we reach out to our communities and try to assist people in need,” Danny explains. “People will send in an application for a specific cause and then we’ll review it and work with local charity partners to make it happen; for example, we work with several rehabilitation facilities for veterans who are struggling. The whole concept behind it is for people to realize that, although we’re a franchise, we’re locally owned. The marketing might come from a corporate office, but our communities are dealing with a local business, and Gutters for Good helps people to remember that.”
Building on its existing success, Brothers Gutters shows no signs of slowing down. With a clear focus on driving store growth and helping franchisees take their businesses to the next level, the company is committed to investing in its people, creating opportunities for local talent to grow from apprenticeship level into long-term, rewarding careers within the industry.
As it looks ahead to the future, Brothers Gutters has begun its first international expansion with the focus beginning with Canada. Even as the business continues to scale, however, its mission will always remain the same: to redefine contractor service through people, purpose, and a relentless commitment to doing things better, now and forever.
