FREEZ Construction builds beyond the standard with specialist expertise, innovative technology, and a culture of excellence

In controlled environment construction, precision matters. From maintaining the right temperature to protecting product integrity and supporting efficient operations, every detail plays a critical role. That’s why choosing the right construction partner who understands the thermal demands involved is paramount. Enter: FREEZ Construction (FREEZ).

Since entering the industry, FREEZ has established itself as a premier controlled environment contractor, combining specialized expertise with a commitment to first-class service. As insulated metal panel specialists and thermal construction experts, the business brings a focused, highly collaborative approach to every project, from cold storage and food processing facilities to distribution centers and specialized environments.

Founded by Vince Free, President and Chief Executive Officer, and his wife Jenna, in 2019, the FREEZ leadership team – or rather, ‘The Squad’ – shares a rare connection. As childhood friends, the team built strong friendships before ever building a company (“think Entourage, but with fewer movie premieres and a lot more insulated metal panels”). Today, driving the business alongside Vince is his wife, Jenna, whose Master’s Degree in Psychology gives her a unique, invaluable perspective on cultivating a high-performance, thriving company culture. Alongside the pair is Luke Waite, Vice President of Thermal, and Project Managers Dan Costello, Kevin Jensen, and Ryan Gasper. Together, they believe that the best results come from genuine partnership, turning complex thermal challenges into reliable, high-performance solutions.

“We’re a specialty contractor serving the cold storage industry, focusing on building temperature-controlled facilities. We started as a small group of trusted friends with decades of experience. We’d known each other since we were 13, then reconnected in the industry before branching off on our own. When I launched FREEZ, the team reunited. Our straightforward goal was to create the kind of company great customers want to partner with,” he recalls.

“Now, here we are, building cold storage warehouses across the US. We provide and install full thermal envelope systems, from underfloor insulation to cold storage doors and barrier details. Our focus is on food processing and distribution facilities, where precision truly matters, and small mistakes can quickly become costly. While we’re all friends, our roles are clear, and no one gets a free pass because of our history. That closeness builds trust, but accountability is what really helps us grow. We communicate a bit earlier and pay attention to details others might overlook. Those small things add up to a much better project. There’s a Vince Lombardi quote I love: “We will chase perfection, and we will chase it relentlessly, knowing all the while we can never attain it. But along the way, we shall catch excellence.” That’s what we’re after in our business. We want to be just a few degrees better than the standard.”

Specialist experience

Throughout its journey, one of FREEZ’s greatest competitive advantages has been its commitment to staying specialized. This mindset has shaped not just what the company does, but also how it operates, closely aligning with its passion for continuous improvement.

“Specialists see risks that generalists often miss. By staying focused, we build deeper expertise, stronger crews, and a better understanding of how every connection and transition impacts the entire building,” Vince says. “We don’t want to be everything to everyone; we aim to be the best at what we do.”

That same commitment to doing things better shows how FREEZ approaches innovation. Instead of adopting technology just for the sake of it, the team looks for practical ways to capture knowledge, improve processes, and learn from its specialist experience.

When it comes to recent developments, too, FREEZ has been innovating beyond technology. The drive to challenge the usual ways of working has led the company to take more ownership of the entire building envelope, bringing the same focus on quality, accountability, and innovation to another crucial part of the system.

“On August 20, 2026, we’re launching our new roofing division,” Vince announces. “One of the biggest challenges in our industry is having several different subcontractors on a single project. When there’s an issue, everyone points fingers. With this division, we want to eliminate that confusion. If we’re responsible for the walls and roof system, we’ll do it our way, using our own proprietary details, and we’ll offer a 20-year systems warranty. No one else has done that before. I believe this kind of warranty will amaze people and really change the game.”

Sustainable growth

For FREEZ, growth isn’t about becoming the biggest; it’s about becoming better. The team keeps challenging the status quo, investing in its people, and raising the bar for controlled environment construction. With specialist expertise, a culture built on trust and accountability, and a drive to keep innovating, the company is ready for its next chapter. As Vince says, FREEZ has come a long way since 2019, but with plenty more to prove and build, its journey is just getting started.

“For Jenna and me, our passion is this company. It’s our baby; we’re both big entrepreneurs. I work with my wife every day, and some people think that’s wild, but she’s one of the smartest and most talented women I’ve ever met. Without her, neither the company nor I would be what we’re meant to be – we’d be good, but not great,” Vince highlights.

“Looking ahead, we’re putting significant resources into our 20-year systems warranty, as well as new field technology and leadership development programs. Jenna and I are both very involved in these areas,” he adds, wrapping up our conversation.

“Our aim is controlled, sustainable growth. We want to develop our next generation of leaders while protecting the quality and culture that built our success. The goal isn’t just to become a bigger company, but a stronger one. People often call us a rapid growth story, but revenue is just the scoreboard. The real story is about people who believed in the company, took ownership, and built something bigger than any one person. We’re incredibly proud of our teams. We’ve come a long way, but we’re just getting started.”
