Howard S. Wright had a good background for its construction of the Washington State Department of Information Services (DIS) Data Center and Office Complex in Olympia, Wash. The company has completed numerous data center/office projects, according to Project Executive Paul Snorsky, and it has a long history with the project’s developer, Wright Runstad & Co. of Seattle.

It was nearly 20 years ago when History Colorado – the state’s historical society – began planning to expand and upgrade the Colorado History Museum, but it wasn’t until August 2009 that the project actually broke ground. Many construction projects falter because of lack of financing, and although that came into play during the museum’s project, it was not the only factor holding it back.

Groupe Mach sets itself apart from other real estate firms in Quebec based on its unique vision of urban development, which has led to significant growth for the Montreal-based company. Much of its success can be attributed to its strategic focus to develop, construct and manage projects in areas where it sees a need for developments of a certain caliber. “The development of properties has become the spearhead of the company that emphasizes quality, long-term vision and integrity in every project,” it says.

For Cogir Management Corp., a strong staff is essential for business success. “Nothing is impossible with a competent, honest working team that is in synch with the company philosophy,” it declares. “We expect that all the people working on behalf of Cogir always act with total integrity and in fairness.”

A nationally recognized hospital located just outside of Chicago is reaching the culmination of a more than six-year expansion and construction plan. Central DuPage Hospital (CDH) in Winfield, Ill., in August 2011 will open a new $235 million bed pavilion that will also serve as its new public entrance. Construction started on the tower in May 2009, and was substantially complete by May 2011. The architect is RTKL of Chicago and the general contractor is Pepper Construction Group LLC, also of Chicago.

New techniques are often greeted with a skeptical eye, and questions about whether new products and methods will have staying power are often answered with the phrase, “only time will tell.” Well, it’s been nearly 40 years since Birdair built the world’s first permanent tensile structure made from polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE), and with no serious maintenance issues in sight, it seems that time is on Birdair’s side.

When the University of Northern Arizona set out to hire a construction manager to renovate the J.L. Walkup Skydome, school officials did their homework thoroughly. Not content to simply select the lowest bidder, the university opted for a construction manager at-risk contract wherein the contractor is selected based on a set list of qualifications. Additionally, the project price is set at a guaranteed maximum price, which reduces the owner’s financial risk on the project.

After surviving the horrors of battle, U.S. soldiers deserve the best medical care that Veterans Affairs (VA) hospitals can give to them. And the James A.
